  1. Perform complex laboratory tests in the field of microbiology, including but not limited to bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
  2. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring accuracy and precision in test results.
  3. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain quality control.
  4. Analyze and interpret test results, identifying any abnormalities or inconsistencies and taking appropriate action.
  5. Communicate effectively with other members of the laboratory team and healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely results.
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all tests, results, and procedures performed.
  7. Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to the appropriate personnel if needed.
  8. Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of accuracy and quality in laboratory results.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  10. Stay up-to-date with current developments and new techniques in microbiology to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
  11. Assist with training and mentoring of new laboratory staff.
  12. Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers, addressing any inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  13. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to develop and implement new tests and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or Related Field: A Medical Technologist- Microbiology At Labcorp Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Laboratory Sciences And Prepares Individuals For The Technical Demands Of The Job.

  • Certification As A Medical Technologist (Mt) Or Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls): Labcorp Requires Its Medical Technologists- Microbiology To Be Certified As Either An Mt Or Mls Through A Recognized Certifying Agency Such As Ascp Or Amt. This Certification Ensures That The Individual Has Met The Necessary Education, Experience, And Competency Requirements To Perform The Duties Of The Job.

  • Experience In Microbiology Laboratory Procedures: Labcorp Prefers Candidates For The Medical Technologist- Microbiology Position To Have Experience In Performing Various Microbiology Laboratory Procedures, Such As Bacterial Cultures, Gram Staining, And Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing. This Experience Demonstrates The Individual's Proficiency In Handling And Analyzing Microbial Samples.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures: As Labcorp Is A Laboratory Testing Company, It Is Essential For Its Medical Technologists- Microbiology To Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures. This Includes Knowledge Of Handling Hazardous Materials, Maintaining A Sterile Work Environment, And Following Proper Disposal Methods.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: Medical Technologists- Microbiology Must Possess Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills To Accurately Interpret Test Results And Troubleshoot Any Issues That May Arise During Testing. This Includes The Ability To Identify And Resolve Discrepancies And Report Any Abnormal Findings To The Appropriate Personnel.
