- Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques following established protocols and SOPs
- Ensure accuracy and quality control of all tissue samples and slides
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and stainers
- Monitor and document all quality control measures, including temperature logs, reagent expiration dates, and equipment maintenance records
- Prepare and label slides for pathologist review and interpretation
- Perform special staining techniques as needed for specific diagnostic tests
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure sample integrity and prevent cross-contamination
- Communicate any technical issues or discrepancies to laboratory management and assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including handling and disposal of hazardous materials
- Keep current with industry advancements and participate in continuing education and training opportunities to maintain technical proficiency
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of diagnostic results to healthcare providers.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or A Related Field.
Certification As A Histotechnologist (Htl) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Histology Laboratory.
Strong Knowledge Of Histology Techniques, Procedures, And Quality Control Measures.
Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team, With Excellent Attention To Detail And Time Management Skills.
