The ideal candidate will possess a degree in histotechnology or a related field, as well as certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).   • Prepare and stain tissue samples for microscopic examination following established laboratory protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy, precision, and quality of results by adhering to strict laboratory guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory technologists to provide critical information for patient diagnoses and treatments.
  • Maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  • Manage and organize laboratory supplies and reagents to ensure proper inventory levels.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Keep accurate records of all laboratory procedures and results.
  • Continuously update knowledge and skills through ongoing training and education.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, clients, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of histotechnology principles and techniques.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Train and mentor new laboratory staff as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Represent LabCorp in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Histotechnology Concepts And Techniques Is Essential For This Role. A Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Biology, Chemistry, Or Medical Laboratory Science Demonstrates A Solid Understanding Of Histology Principles.

  • Histology Certification: Labcorp May Require Candidates To Be Certified As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp). This Certification Ensures That Candidates Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform Histology Procedures Accurately And Safely.

  • Prior Experience In A Histology Laboratory: Labcorp May Prefer Candidates With Previous Experience In A Histology Laboratory. This Can Include Experience With Tissue Processing, Embedding, Microtomy, Staining, And Other Histology Techniques. Experience In A Fast-Paced, High-Volume Laboratory Setting Is Also Desirable.

  • Attention To Detail: Histotechnicians Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Accurately Prepare Tissue Samples For Examination. They Must Be Able To Follow Precise Protocols And Procedures To Ensure The Integrity And Quality Of The Samples.

  • Strong Technical Skills: Histotechnicians Must Be Proficient In Operating And Maintaining Various Laboratory Equipment, Including Microscopes, Tissue Processors, Embedding Machines, And Staining Instruments. They Should Also Have A Solid Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Be Able To Troubleshoot Technical Issues As Needed.
