  1. Perform microscopic examination and analysis of human cells to detect and diagnose diseases.
  2. Utilize specialized staining techniques and equipment to accurately identify and classify abnormal cells.
  3. Follow established protocols and quality control measures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  4. Communicate test results and findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals in a timely and efficient manner.
  5. Collaborate with other team members and pathologists to review and discuss complex cases.
  6. Keep detailed and accurate records of all tests performed and results obtained.
  7. Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols.
  8. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
  9. Stay current with new developments and techniques in the field of cytotechnology.
  10. Participate in continuing education and training programs to maintain certification and enhance skills.
  11. Provide guidance and training to laboratory assistants and other staff members.
  12. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to privacy and confidentiality.
  13. Assist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols.
  14. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  15. Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and accuracy in all aspects of work.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or Related Field: A Strong Foundation In The Biological Sciences Is Essential For A Cytotechnologist To Accurately Analyze And Interpret Cell Samples.

  • Certification By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp): This Certification Demonstrates A Thorough Understanding Of Cytology Principles And Techniques, And Is A Requirement For Most Cytotechnologist Positions.

  • Experience In Performing And Interpreting Fna (Fine Needle Aspiration) Procedures: Fna Is A Common Diagnostic Technique Used In Cytology, So Experience In This Area Is Highly Desired By Employers.

  • Familiarity With Laboratory Information Systems (Lis) And Digital Imaging Systems: Cytotechnologists Often Work With Computer Systems To Analyze And Document Cell Samples, So Proficiency In These Systems Is Important.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Work Independently: Cytotechnologists Must Be Meticulous In Their Work, As Even Small Errors In Sample Analysis Can Have Significant Consequences. They Also Need To Be Able To Work Independently And Make Decisions Based On Their Findings.
