- Conduct research and stay up-to-date on current civil rights laws and policies to ensure compliance and implementation in the city of Kansas City.
- Serve as a point of contact for individuals who have experienced discrimination or civil rights violations, providing support and guidance on how to file a complaint and seek justice.
- Investigate complaints and reports of civil rights violations, gathering evidence and conducting interviews to determine the validity of the claims.
- Collaborate with other city departments, community organizations, and advocacy groups to develop and implement initiatives and programs that promote civil rights and address systemic issues.
- Provide training and education to city employees, community groups, and other stakeholders on civil rights laws and policies, promoting awareness and understanding of individual rights and protections.
- Develop and maintain relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders, actively listening to their concerns and advocating for their rights.
- Monitor and analyze data on civil rights issues in the city, identifying trends and making recommendations for policy changes and improvements.
- Work closely with legal counsel and assist in the preparation and defense of civil rights cases in court.
- Participate in community outreach events and initiatives to raise awareness of civil rights issues and promote a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of civil rights complaints, investigations, and resolutions, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity in handling sensitive information.
Bachelor's Degree In Law, Political Science, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Working In Civil Rights Law Or Advocacy.
Knowledge Of Federal And State Civil Rights Laws And Regulations.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Engage With Diverse Communities And Stakeholders.
