- Conduct comprehensive patient screenings and assessments to assist ophthalmologists and optometrists in diagnosing and treating eye conditions.
- Perform various ophthalmic tests and procedures, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and lensometry, with a high level of accuracy and precision.
- Maintain all ophthalmic equipment and supplies, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning properly.
- Assist in the preparation and documentation of patient medical records, including entering data into electronic health records and maintaining confidentiality.
- Educate patients on proper eye care and the proper use of contact lenses, eyeglasses, and other visual aids.
- Prepare and administer ophthalmic medications and instruct patients on medication usage and potential side effects.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Stay up-to-date on current ophthalmic technology and techniques, attending training and continuing education opportunities as needed.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment, following all safety and infection control protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any concerns or questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines in the provision of eye care services.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education
Completion Of An Accredited Ophthalmic Technician Program
Certification As A Certified Ophthalmic Technician (Cot) Or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Coa)
At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As An Ophthalmic Technician In A Clinical Setting
Working Knowledge Of Ophthalmic Equipment And Procedures, Including But Not Limited To Refractometry, Tonometry, Visual Field Testing, And Contact Lens Fitting.
