As a Technician, Ophthalmic, you will play a crucial role in assisting our ophthalmologists and optometrists in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and disorders.   1. Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and disorders.
  2. Perform various ophthalmic tests and procedures, including visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
  3. Accurately record and maintain patient information and test results in electronic medical records.
  4. Prepare patients for examinations and assist with eye exams, procedures, and surgeries.
  5. Educate patients about eye care and provide instruction on the use of contact lenses, eyeglasses, and medications.
  6. Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
  7. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care and treatment plans.
  9. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  10. Stay up-to-date on advancements and changes in ophthalmic technology, procedures, and treatments.
  11. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service and promote a positive patient experience.
  13. Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and collecting payments.
  14. Participate in training and educational opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  15. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Kaiser Permanente and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Ophthalmic Certification: Applicants For The Technician, Ophthalmic Position At Kaiser Permanente Should Possess A Valid Certification From A Recognized Ophthalmic Technician Program.

  • Knowledge Of Ophthalmic Equipment: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Ophthalmic Equipment And Be Able To Operate And Maintain Instruments Such As Autorefractors, Slit Lamps, And Visual Field Analyzers.

  • Patient Care Experience: Previous Experience Working In A Medical Or Clinical Setting Is Preferred, With A Focus On Providing High-Quality Patient Care And Ensuring Patient Comfort During Procedures.

  • Familiarity With Electronic Health Records: Kaiser Permanente Utilizes Electronic Health Records (Ehr) For All Patient Information, So Applicants Should Have Experience Working With Ehr Systems And Be Comfortable Entering And Retrieving Patient Data.

  • Strong Communication Skills: The Technician, Ophthalmic Will Work Closely With Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, And Other Healthcare Professionals, So Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential. This Includes Both Verbal And Written Communication, As Well As The Ability To Explain Procedures And Instructions Clearly To Patients.
