
Surgical Technician, Main OR

- Prepare Operating Room: As a Surgical Technician, you will be responsible for preparing the operating room for surgery. This includes ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
- Assist Surgeons: You will provide assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, including passing instruments, holding retractors, and assisting with patient positioning.
- Maintain Sterility: It is crucial that you maintain a sterile environment in the operating room at all times. This includes properly sterilizing and handling equipment, and adhering to proper infection control protocols.
- Anticipate Surgeon's Needs: You will need to anticipate the needs of the surgeon during procedures by being familiar with the surgical instruments and equipment, and being able to anticipate the next steps in the procedure.
- Patient Care: As a Surgical Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the comfort and safety of the patient before, during, and after the surgical procedure. This includes monitoring vital signs, positioning the patient, and providing emotional support.
- Collaborate with Team: You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure a smooth and successful surgery. This requires excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Maintain Equipment: It is your responsibility to properly clean and maintain surgical equipment, and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow Protocols: You must strictly adhere to all hospital and department policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
- Document Procedures: Accurate and timely documentation of all surgical procedures and patient information is vital in this role. You must maintain detailed and organized records of each surgery you assist with.
- Continuously Learn: As a member of the Main Operating Room team at Kaiser Permanente, you will be expected to continuously learn and stay updated on new surgical techniques, technology, and procedures to provide the best possible care to our patients.
Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) Credential From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) Or Equivalent Certification
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working As A Surgical Technician In A Fast-Paced Hospital Setting
Knowledge Of Surgical Instruments, Procedures, And Sterile Techniques
Experience With Various Surgical Specialties, Including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, And General Surgery
Ability To Work Well In A Team Environment And Communicate Effectively With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
