- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and efficient operating room operations.
- Prepare operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up equipment and supplies.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other necessary items.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Monitor patient vital signs and assist with positioning and prepping patients for surgery.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, including supplies used and patient information.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the operating room.
- Continuously monitor and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Stay up-to-date on current surgical techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families before and after surgical procedures.
- Uphold the values and mission of Kaiser Permanente in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings and trainings.
- Adhere to all HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technician Program: Candidates For This Position Should Possess A Certificate Or Associate's Degree From A Program That Is Accredited By The Commission On Accreditation Of Allied Health Education Programs (Caahep).
Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) Credential: Candidates Must Have A Current Cst Certification From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In An Acute Care Hospital Setting: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Surgical Technician In A Fast-Paced, High-Volume Operating Room Within A Hospital Setting.
Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment: Candidates Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Procedures And Be Familiar With A Variety Of Surgical Instruments And Equipment. They Should Also Have Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Protocols.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Candidates Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills And Be Able To Work Effectively As Part Of A Surgical Team. They Should Also Be Able To Handle High-Stress Situations And Maintain A Calm And Professional Demeanor.
