  1. Manage the release of medical records for patients in accordance with state and federal regulations and HIPAA guidelines.
  2. Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of patient information is maintained at all times.
  3. Verify the validity and authorization of requests for medical records.
  4. Coordinate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and approvals for releasing medical records.
  5. Maintain accurate and organized records of all released medical records.
  6. Communicate with patients to provide updates on the status of their medical record requests.
  7. Handle any inquiries or concerns from patients regarding their medical records.
  8. Follow proper protocols and procedures for maintaining the security and confidentiality of electronic medical records.
  9. Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely and accurate release of medical records.
  10. Stay updated on changes in state and federal regulations related to release of medical records.
  11. Provide guidance and training to other staff members on proper procedures for handling medical record requests.
  12. Proactively identify and address any potential compliance issues related to the release of medical records.
  13. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of medical record releases.
  14. Continuously seek ways to improve and streamline the process for releasing medical records.
  15. Adhere to Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field.

  • Certified Health Information Technician (Chit) Or Registered Health Information Administrator (Rhia) Certification.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Release Of Information Or Health Information Management.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws Related To Confidentiality And Release Of Information.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Accuracy In Managing Sensitive Medical Records.
