- Sterilize and maintain all surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and testing of sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Follow infection control and safety guidelines to prevent the spread of diseases.
- Inspect and assemble surgical instruments to ensure they are in proper working order.
- Troubleshoot and report any issues with instruments or equipment to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with surgical and healthcare staff to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Keep accurate and detailed records of instrument sterilization and maintenance.
- Train and mentor new SPD Instrument Technicians on proper sterilization techniques and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of current industry standards and best practices for instrument sterilization and maintenance.
- Adhere to all hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and suggest ways to improve processes and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare staff.
- Continuously strive to provide the highest quality of patient care and customer service.
- Attend and actively participate in trainings, meetings, and educational programs as required.
- Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.
- Flexibly adjust to changing priorities and work assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working As An Instrument Technician In A Sterile Processing Department.
Knowledge Of Proper Sterilization Techniques And Procedures, Including Decontamination, Inspection, Assembly, And Packaging.
Familiarity With A Variety Of Medical Instruments And Equipment, And The Ability To Troubleshoot And Repair Any Issues.
Proficiency In Maintaining Accurate Records And Inventory Of Instruments And Supplies.
Certification From A Recognized Spd Program Or Equivalent Training And Experience In Sterile Processing.
