Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit.
- Assess and monitor the health status of newborns, including vital signs, feeding, and developmental milestones.
- Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
- Educate parents and families on the care and needs of their newborns, including feeding, hygiene, and developmental milestones.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress.
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of newborns at all times.
- Respond quickly and effectively to any changes in a newborn's condition.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and improve clinical skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Serve as an advocate for vulnerable newborns and their families.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a positive attitude towards patients and their families.
- Take on additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by the nurse manager or supervisor.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution Is Required For A Registered Nurse Position At Kaiser Permanente. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Clinical Practice.
Active Rn License: Candidates Must Possess An Active Registered Nurse License In The State Where They Will Be Working. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Legally Allowed To Practice Nursing And Is Up-To-Date With All Required Certifications And Training.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nicu) Experience: Nicu Experience Is A Must For A Registered Nurse Position In This Specialty At Kaiser Permanente. Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Nicu Setting, Preferably In A Similar Healthcare System.
Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (Acls) Certifications: Candidates Must Be Certified In Both Bls And Acls, As These Are Essential Skills For Providing Emergency Care In The Nicu. These Certifications Must Be Current And Maintained Throughout The Employment At Kaiser Permanente.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Working In The Nicu Requires Close Collaboration With A Multidisciplinary Team Of Healthcare Professionals. Candidates Must Possess Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Colleagues, Patients, And Their Families. They Must Also Be Able To Handle Stressful Situations With A Calm And Compassionate Demeanor.
