- Perform blood draws on patients of all ages, following proper procedures and protocols.
- Prepare and label collected specimens for laboratory testing.
- Verify patient information and ensure accuracy of all collected samples.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of biohazard materials.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
- Communicate with patients in a professional and empathetic manner to ensure their comfort and satisfaction.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate collection and processing of samples.
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures to protect patients, staff, and self from potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- Handle and resolve any issues or concerns related to phlebotomy procedures or patient care.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in training and educational opportunities to maintain certifications and improve job performance.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure proper handling and processing of collected samples.
- Maintain accurate records of all phlebotomy procedures, including patient information and test results.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or healthcare providers.
Certification: A Phlebotomist At Kaiser Permanente Should Have A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Education: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For The Position, And A Post-Secondary Education In Phlebotomy Or A Related Field Is Preferred.
Experience: Kaiser Permanente Prefers Candidates With At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In Phlebotomy, Preferably In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting.
Interpersonal And Communication Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For A Phlebotomist At Kaiser Permanente, As They Will Be Interacting With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis.
Attention To Detail: As A Phlebotomist, Accuracy And Attention To Detail Are Crucial In Collecting And Labeling Blood Samples, Recording Patient Information, And Following Proper Procedures To Ensure Patient Safety.
