Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented and experienced medical coder looking for a new opportunity? Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Outpatient Facility Medical Coder to join our team at our outpatient facility. As a medical coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely coding of medical services, which ultimately impacts patient care and reimbursement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of outpatient coding guidelines and regulations, as well as excellent communication and time management skills.   1. Accurately and efficiently code medical services for our outpatient facility, following all coding guidelines and regulations.
  2. Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding.
  3. Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies or missing information in medical records.
  4. Stay up-to-date on current coding policies and procedures, as well as changes in coding regulations.
  5. Collaborate with other members of the coding and billing team to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines when handling sensitive patient information.
  7. Assist with resolving any coding related denials or issues with insurance companies.
  8. Ensure all coding is completed within designated timelines to ensure timely reimbursement.
  9. Continuously evaluate and improve coding processes to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy.
  10. Serve as a resource for healthcare providers regarding coding questions and concerns.
  11. Participate in training and education sessions to maintain and enhance coding skills.
  12. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing Kaiser Permanente and our outpatient facility.
  13. Take responsibility for maintaining accurate and organized records of coding activities.
  14. Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to coding and billing.
  15. Play a vital role in maintaining high levels of patient care and reimbursement through accurate and timely coding.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Physiology.

  • Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Certification From Ahima Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Certification From Aapc.

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Coding Experience In An Outpatient Facility, Preferably In A Healthcare System Like Kaiser Permanente.

  • Proficiency In Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems.

  • Familiarity With Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems, Such As Epic, And Coding Software, Such As 3M Encoder.
