- Assist orthodontists in providing exceptional patient care by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and setting up equipment.
- Greet patients with a warm and friendly demeanor, making them feel comfortable and at ease.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care, including instructions on how to maintain braces and other orthodontic appliances.
- Take and develop high-quality dental x-rays as directed by the orthodontist.
- Keep accurate and updated records of patient information, treatments, and progress.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation of the orthodontic department.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and maintaining a timely and efficient patient flow.
- Provide support and assistance to the orthodontist during procedures, including passing instruments, taking notes, and adjusting appliances.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety and comfort of patients and staff.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude towards patients and colleagues, promoting a collaborative and respectful work environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and office efficiency.
- Follow all Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Certified Dental Assistant: A Minimum Of A Dental Assisting National Board (Danb) Certification Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Assist With Orthodontic Procedures.
Experience With Orthodontic Procedures: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Dental Assistant In An Orthodontic Setting. This Includes Experience With Taking Impressions, Placing And Removing Orthodontic Appliances, And Assisting With Adjustments.
Knowledge Of Dental Software: Kaiser Permanente Uses Electronic Health Records And Dental Software To Manage Patient Information. Candidates Should Have Experience With These Programs Or Be Willing To Undergo Training To Become Proficient In Their Use.
Excellent Communication Skills: As An Orthodontic Dental Assistant, You Will Be Working Closely With Both Patients And The Orthodontist. Strong Communication Skills Are Essential To Effectively Explain Procedures, Educate Patients On Treatment Plans, And Address Any Concerns Or Questions They May Have.
