
Orthodontic Dental Assistant

- Assist orthodontists in all aspects of orthodontic treatment, including but not limited to taking and developing x-rays, preparing and sterilizing instruments, and setting up treatment areas.
- Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about the treatment process.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care instructions for their orthodontic appliances.
- Take accurate impressions and create models of patients' teeth for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate any concerns or changes to the orthodontist.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Collaborate with other dental assistants and team members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Continuously update and improve knowledge and skills through training and professional development opportunities.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have with empathy and professionalism.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to dental practice.
- Attend team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care and office processes.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in orthodontic treatment and technology.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the orthodontist or office manager.
Certified Dental Assistant: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Hold A Valid Certification As A Dental Assistant From An Accredited Institution.
Experience In Orthodontics: Kaiser Permanente Is Looking For Candidates With A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In An Orthodontic Setting. This Will Ensure That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Specific Procedures And Techniques Used In Orthodontic Treatments.
Knowledge Of Dental Software: The Candidate Should Be Familiar With Dental Software Programs Such As Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Or Open Dental. This Will Enable Them To Efficiently Manage Patient Records And Appointments.
Strong Communication Skills: As A Dental Assistant, It Is Important To Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Orthodontists, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team.
Bls Certification: Kaiser Permanente Requires All Employees To Hold A Valid Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained In Emergency Response And Can Provide Immediate Assistance In Case Of A Medical Emergency.
