1. Provide lactation support and education to new mothers and their babies in accordance with Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
2. Utilize evidence-based practices and current research to support and promote successful breastfeeding.
3. Conduct thorough assessments of breastfeeding mothers and babies, including evaluating latch, milk transfer, and signs of effective breastfeeding.
4. Develop individualized care plans for mothers and babies experiencing breastfeeding challenges.
5. Monitor and document breastfeeding progress and provide follow-up care as needed.
6. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care for breastfeeding mothers and babies.
7. Serve as a resource for healthcare providers and staff on breastfeeding best practices and techniques.
8. Educate and support families on the benefits of breastfeeding and assist with any concerns or questions.
9. Maintain professional knowledge and stay updated on current lactation and breastfeeding practices.
10. Adhere to all regulatory requirements and maintain accurate and timely documentation.
11. Maintain a safe and clean environment for breastfeeding mothers and babies.
12. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and professionalism when working with patients and their families.
13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continually improve lactation support services.
14. Adhere to confidentiality and patient privacy policies at all times.
15. Attend mandatory trainings and meetings as required by Kaiser Permanente.
