As a Histology Technician, you will play a crucial role in our healthcare team by preparing and analyzing tissue samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.   1. Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by cutting, staining, and mounting them on slides.
  2. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, tissue processors, and embedding stations.
  3. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing and analysis of tissue samples.
  4. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all specimens and test results.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or discrepancies in processing or analysis.
  6. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
  7. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  8. Continuously update and expand knowledge of histology techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  9. Participate in quality control and quality assurance measures to maintain high standards of accuracy and precision.
  10. Communicate results and findings to pathologists and other healthcare professionals.
  11. Assist in the training and supervision of new histology technicians and laboratory assistants.
  12. Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies for the histology laboratory.
  13. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute ideas for process improvement.
  14. Comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of Kaiser Permanente in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Biological Sciences Or Related Field

  • Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl) Through The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp)

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Histology Laboratory Setting

  • Familiarity With Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures, Including Handling Of Hazardous Materials

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Perform And Document Complex Laboratory Tests And Procedures.
