- Conduct genetic risk assessments for individuals and families, utilizing the latest research and technology to provide accurate and comprehensive information.
- Provide genetic counseling services to patients and families, including education on genetic conditions, inheritance patterns, and available testing options.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans for patients based on their genetic risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of genetic testing and counseling techniques, as well as relevant ethical and legal guidelines.
- Communicate complex genetic information in a clear and compassionate manner to patients and their families.
- Support patients and families in making informed decisions about their healthcare by discussing potential risks, benefits, and limitations of genetic testing.
- Facilitate genetic testing and coordinate follow-up care, including referrals to appropriate specialists.
- Document all patient interactions and maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient care and provide expertise on genetic issues.
- Act as a resource for colleagues and other healthcare professionals regarding genetic counseling and testing.
- Stay updated on current research and developments in the field of genetics and incorporate this knowledge into practice.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families as they navigate through the complex world of genetic testing and decision-making.
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards set by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and state licensure requirements.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the genetic counseling program to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
- Represent Kaiser Permanente and the genetic counseling profession in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.
Certification By The American Board Of Genetic Counseling.
Experience In Providing Genetic Counseling Services To Patients In A Healthcare Setting.
Extensive Knowledge Of Genetics, Hereditary Diseases, And Genetic Testing Techniques.
