- Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures, following all safety protocols and monitoring their vital signs throughout the procedure.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to create individualized anesthesia plans for patients.
- Educate patients and their families on the risks and benefits of anesthesia and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Monitor and maintain anesthesia equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition and following all cleaning and sterilization procedures.
- Assist in the preparation and positioning of patients for surgery, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Document all aspects of anesthesia care, including pre- and post-operative assessments, medication administration, and patient responses.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, providing updates on patient status and any changes in anesthesia plans.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain current knowledge of advancements and best practices in anesthesia.
- Adhere to all regulatory and safety guidelines, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Foster a compassionate and caring environment for patients, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.
Master's Degree In Nurse Anesthesia From An Accredited Program: Crnas Must Have A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Nurse Anesthesia In Order To Practice, And This Degree Must Be From A Program That Is Accredited By The Council On Accreditation Of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
Current Certification As A Crna: In Order To Work As A Crna, Individuals Must Hold A Current Certification From The National Board Of Certification And Recertification For Nurse Anesthetists (Nbcrna). This Certification Must Be Maintained Through Ongoing Education And Recertification Exams.
Active State Nursing License: Crnas Must Hold An Active, Unrestricted Nursing License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. This License Must Be Maintained And Renewed According To The State's Requirements.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Crna: Most Employers, Including Kaiser Permanente, Prefer To Hire Crnas With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In The Field. This Ensures That The Individual Has A Strong Foundation Of Knowledge And Skills In Anesthesia Practice.
Strong Clinical Skills And Attention To Detail: As A Crna, The Individual Will Be Responsible For Administering Anesthesia And Monitoring Patients During Surgical Procedures. Therefore, It Is Crucial That They Possess Strong Clinical Skills And Are Able To Pay Close Attention To Detail To Ensure Patient Safety And Comfort.
