Job Description

  1. Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to support children and families during their healthcare experience.
  2. Educate and prepare children for medical procedures and treatments using developmentally appropriate techniques.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure a child-friendly and supportive environment.
  4. Provide emotional support and counseling to children and families facing medical challenges.
  5. Assess and address the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families.
  6. Utilize play and other creative methods to facilitate coping and healing for children.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with community resources to enhance support for pediatric patients.
  8. Document and communicate observations, interventions, and outcomes to the healthcare team.
  9. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and assist in developing care plans for pediatric patients.
  10. Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in child life and apply them in the healthcare setting.
  11. Advocate for the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare system.
  12. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
  13. Provide support and guidance to families on how to continue supporting their child's development during and after medical treatment.
  14. Collaborate with volunteers and coordinate special events for pediatric patients.
  15. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Child Life Council.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Child Development, Family Dynamics, And Coping Techniques For Children In Hospital Settings.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Support To Families During Difficult Times.
