Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Child Life Specialist at Kaiser Permanente. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support, education, and therapeutic activities to pediatric patients and their families during their hospital stay. This position requires a strong understanding of child development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.   1. Develop and implement child life programs and services to support the emotional well-being of pediatric patients and their families.
  2. Utilize knowledge of child development to provide age-appropriate activities and interventions for children in the hospital setting.
  3. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
  4. Create a safe and nurturing environment for children and families, providing emotional support and guidance during their hospital stay.
  5. Educate and prepare children and families for medical procedures and treatments using developmentally appropriate methods.
  6. Serve as a resource and advocate for pediatric patients and their families, addressing their emotional and psychosocial needs.
  7. Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with pediatric patients and their families, promoting positive coping mechanisms and resilience.
  8. Assess the emotional and developmental needs of pediatric patients and provide appropriate interventions and support.
  9. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, providing insight into the emotional well-being of pediatric patients and collaborating with the team to develop treatment plans.
  10. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of interactions and interventions with pediatric patients and their families.
  11. Keep up-to-date with best practices and trends in the field of child life, incorporating new techniques and strategies into practice.
  12. Contribute to the overall mission of Kaiser Permanente by providing compassionate and quality care to pediatric patients and their families.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) From The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Child Development, Family Systems, And Coping Techniques For Children And Families Facing Medical Challenges.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work Effectively With Multi-Disciplinary Teams And To Provide Emotional Support To Patients And Families.
