
Child Life Specialist

- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities, interventions, and support services for pediatric patients and their families to promote emotional, social, and developmental well-being.
- Provide psychosocial support and education to children and families to help them cope with the stress and challenges of hospitalization.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure a holistic and family-centered approach to care.
- Conduct individual and group sessions with pediatric patients to help them understand and prepare for medical procedures and treatments.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of children and families within the healthcare system.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and provide input on psychosocial aspects of treatment.
- Collaborate with community organizations and resources to provide additional support and resources for patients and families.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and evidence-based interventions in the field of child life.
- Serve as a resource and consultant for hospital staff and families on child development, coping strategies, and therapeutic techniques.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to families in crisis, including bereavement support when necessary.
- Participate in hospital events and activities to promote awareness of the child life program and engage with the community.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards in the delivery of care.
- Continuously evaluate and improve child life services to meet the changing needs of patients and families.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Child Life Specialist From The Association Of Child Life Professionals.
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Experience In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Medical Center.
Familiarity With Child Development Theories And Techniques For Supporting Children And Families In Medical Settings.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Support To Families Facing Challenging Medical Situations.
