Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a dedicated Child Life Specialist to join our team and support our young patients in their healing journey. As a Child Life Specialist, you will utilize your expertise in child development, play therapy, and psychosocial interventions to help children cope with medical procedures, hospitalization, and other stressors. We are looking for a compassionate and empathetic individual with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field, and at least two years of experience working with children in a healthcare setting.   1. Utilize knowledge and expertise in child development to provide emotional support to children and families during challenging times.
  2. Conduct play therapy and utilize other psychosocial interventions to help children cope with medical procedures, hospitalization, and other stressors.
  3. Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and interventions to promote emotional well-being and development in children.
  4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for the needs of children and their families.
  5. Provide education and support to families to help them understand and participate in their child's care.
  6. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of interventions and progress.
  7. Stay current on research and best practices in child life and incorporate into practice.
  8. Build rapport with patients and families to establish trust and create a positive and supportive environment.
  9. Collaborate with community resources to provide additional support and resources for families.
  10. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and provide input on the psychosocial needs of patients.
  11. Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare professionals on the role and impact of child life.
  12. Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  13. Continuously evaluate and modify interventions based on the needs and progress of each individual child.
  14. Maintain a safe and clean playroom environment for children and families.
  15. Assist in training and supervising child life interns and volunteers.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field.

  • Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Credential From The Association Of Child Life Professionals.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working With Children In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Child Development, Child Psychology, And Family Dynamics.
