
Inpatient Coding Specialist
At Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, our Inpatient Coding Specialists are essential members of our patient care team. We are looking for reliable and detail-oriented individuals to join us and ensure accurate coding in the medical records of our inpatients. Our Inpatient Coding Specialists are responsible for evaluating our physicians’ documentation and assigning the correct codes, to ensure that the quality of care and accuracy of our medical records are maintained. The ideal candidate is a certified coder with an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology and a minimum of two years’ experience in inpatient coding. This person should be well-versed in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. A passion for helping others and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential. In addition, the successful candidate must have a strong commitment to accuracy and to the mission of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate physician documentation and assign the appropriate codes in the medical records of inpatients.
- Maintain the quality of care and accuracy of medical records.
- Ensure accuracy of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare staff members.
- Organize and prioritize workload.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Maintain a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Adhere to the mission of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
