JCPenney is looking for an experienced, motivated Assistant Buyer to join our team! As part of the buying department, you’ll play an important role in helping to shape the future of our business. You should have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a passion for retail. You’ll need a degree in business, retail, merchandising or a related field, as well as at least two years of relevant experience. Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Buyer with the selection, purchase, and distribution of merchandise for JCPenney stores.
- Analyzing market trends and utilizing data to make informed recommendations to the Buyer.
- Negotiating with vendors and suppliers to secure the best prices and terms.
- Working with the Buyer to develop marketing plans and promotional strategies.
- Establishing relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure the best selection of merchandise.
- Evaluating past sales performance and developing strategies to improve future sales.
- Attending trade shows and industry events to stay abreast of current trends.
- Working with other departments to ensure merchandise is properly displayed and promoted.
- Staying informed of industry news and making appropriate recommendations to the Buyer.
