- Ensure the safety and well-being of students participating in aquatic activities.
- Monitor and enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Remain vigilant and attentive at all times while on duty.
- Act quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
- Provide first aid and CPR if necessary.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and supervisors.
- Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor at all times.
- Attend and participate in all required training and meetings.
- Keep the pool area clean and organized.
- Check and maintain all rescue and safety equipment.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with the set-up and breakdown of equipment for aquatic activities.
- Act as a positive role model for students and promote a safe and inclusive environment.
- Follow all policies and procedures set by the university and the aquatics department.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required paperwork.
- Be knowledgeable about the facility and its operations.
- Continuously assess and improve lifeguard skills and knowledge.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all pool patrons.
- Adhere to all lifeguarding and water safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Current Lifeguard Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Current And Valid Lifeguard Certification From A Reputable Organization Such As The American Red Cross Or The Ymca.
First Aid And Cpr Training: Knowledge And Training In First Aid And Cpr Are Essential For A Lifeguard To Effectively Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Immediate Care To Injured Individuals.
Physical Fitness And Endurance: As A Lifeguard, The Candidate Must Be Physically Fit And Have A High Level Of Endurance To Perform The Demanding Job Duties, Such As Swimming Long Distances And Performing Rescues.
Knowledge Of Water Safety And Rescue Techniques: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Water Safety Protocols And Rescue Techniques To Ensure The Safety Of All Individuals In And Around The Water.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For A Lifeguard To Effectively Communicate With Team Members, Supervisors, And Patrons, And To Provide Clear Instructions And Directions For Safety Protocols.
