  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive global strategy for James Madison University, including identifying and prioritizing potential international partnerships and initiatives.
  2. Foster strong relationships with partner institutions and organizations around the world, including maintaining regular communication and organizing collaborative efforts.
  3. Lead and manage all aspects of international programs, including study abroad, exchange programs, and other forms of global learning opportunities.
  4. Stay current on global education trends and best practices, and use this knowledge to continuously improve and enhance JMU's global initiatives.
  5. Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders within the university to integrate global education into the curriculum and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  6. Develop and manage budgets for global learning and partnership programs, ensuring responsible use of resources and maximizing impact.
  7. Provide guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff participating in global education programs, including advising on cultural considerations and logistical arrangements.
  8. Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote JMU's global initiatives and increase visibility and participation in global learning opportunities.
  9. Develop and maintain strong relationships with alumni and donors who have a vested interest in JMU's global initiatives, and explore opportunities for fundraising and partnerships.
  10. Serve as a representative of JMU's global initiatives to external organizations and agencies, advocating for the university's commitment to global education and partnership development.
  11. Stay informed on relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to international education and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  12. Provide leadership and mentorship to staff and team members within the Office of Global Learning & Partnerships, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Extensive Experience In International Education: A Successful Director Of Global Learning & Partnerships At James Madison University Should Have A Strong Background In International Education, Including Experience In Study Abroad Programs, International Student Services, And Global Partnerships.

  • Cross-Cultural Communication Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Individuals From Diverse Cultural Backgrounds And Navigate Cultural Differences. The Director Should Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills And Be Able To Build Relationships With International Partners And Stakeholders.

  • Strategic Thinking And Planning: The Director Must Have A Strategic Mindset And Be Able To Develop And Implement Long-Term Plans And Initiatives For Global Learning And Partnerships At James Madison University. This Includes Identifying New Opportunities For International Partnerships And Programs, And Staying Up-To-Date On Global Education Trends.

  • Budget Management And Fundraising Experience: The Director Will Be Responsible For Managing A Budget For Global Learning And Partnership Initiatives, As Well As Seeking Out Additional Funding Sources Through Grants And Partnerships. Therefore, Experience In Budget Management And Fundraising Is Essential For This Role.

  • Leadership And Team Management Skills: As A Senior-Level Position, The Director Must Have Strong Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Manage A Team Of Staff And Faculty Members. This Includes Providing Guidance And Support To Team Members, As Well As Fostering A Collaborative And Inclusive Work Environment.
