Job Description

If so, J.Crew is looking for you to join our team as an Associate Designer for Mens Knits. As a leader in the fashion industry, J.Crew is seeking a creative and motivated individual to help us bring our mens knitwear collection to the next level. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of mens fashion, a strong design aesthetic, and a drive to innovate and elevate our brand.   1. Design and develop original knitwear designs for the J.Crew menswear collection, taking into consideration current trends and brand aesthetic.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including merchandising, production, and marketing to ensure alignment of design vision.
  3. Conduct research on menswear market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings to inform design decisions.
  4. Create detailed technical sketches and spec sheets for production, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  5. Attend fittings with fit models and make necessary adjustments to designs to ensure proper fit and functionality.
  6. Participate in design presentations and meetings with senior designers and management to share ideas and receive feedback.
  7. Stay updated on emerging fashion trends, materials, techniques, and technologies to continuously improve design processes and products.
  8. Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and oversee production processes.
  9. Review and approve pre-production and production samples to ensure they align with approved designs and quality standards.
  10. Collaborate with the marketing team to provide input and direction for photoshoots and other promotional materials.
  11. Assist in creating and maintaining design and development calendars to ensure timely delivery of product.
  12. Ensure all designs meet brand standards, quality standards, and cost targets.
  13. Mentor and provide guidance to design assistants and interns.
  14. Contribute to team brainstorming sessions and provide innovative ideas for new collections.
  15. Represent J.Crew at industry events and fashion shows to stay connected with the fashion community and promote the brand.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Fashion Design Or A Related Field

  • Proficiency In Adobe Creative Suite And Other Design Software

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Menswear Design, Particularly In Knits

  • Strong Understanding Of Current Fashion Trends And Ability To Translate Them Into Unique Designs

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced, Deadline-Driven Environment.
