  1. Build and configure server systems for IBM clients according to their specific requirements.
  2. Install and troubleshoot hardware, software, and operating systems on server systems.
  3. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of server builds.
  4. Maintain an organized and efficient inventory of server components and equipment.
  5. Test and validate server builds to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
  6. Monitor server systems for any issues and perform necessary maintenance and upgrades.
  7. Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide technical support and guidance.
  8. Stay updated on the latest server technologies and recommend improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.
  9. Adhere to industry best practices and IBM policies and procedures in all server build processes.
  10. Document all server build activities and maintain accurate records for future reference.
  11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve any server-related issues.
  12. Train and mentor junior team members on server build processes and procedures.

Job Qualifications

  • Experience With Server Hardware: A Server Build Technician At Ibm Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Server Hardware Components, Including Processors, Memory, Storage Drives, And Networking Interfaces. They Should Also Be Knowledgeable About Different Server Architectures And Have Experience Building And Configuring Servers From Scratch.

  • Familiarity With Operating Systems: An Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have Experience With Various Operating Systems, Such As Windows, Linux, And Unix. They Should Be Able To Install, Configure, And Troubleshoot These Operating Systems On Servers.

  • Knowledge Of Virtualization Technologies: With The Growing Trend Of Virtualization, A Server Build Technician Should Be Well-Versed In Virtualization Technologies Such As Vmware, Hyper-V, And Kvm. They Should Be Able To Build And Manage Virtual Servers Efficiently.

  • Network And Security Skills: Since Servers Are The Backbone Of An Organization's Network, A Server Build Technician Should Have A Good Understanding Of Network Protocols, Security Protocols, And Firewalls. They Should Also Be Able To Configure And Troubleshoot Network Connectivity Issues On Servers.

  • Strong Troubleshooting Skills: A Server Build Technician Should Possess Excellent Troubleshooting Skills To Identify And Resolve Hardware And Software Issues On Servers. They Should Be Able To Diagnose Problems Quickly And Implement Effective Solutions To Minimize Downtime. Additionally, They Should Be Able To Document Their Troubleshooting Steps For Future Reference.
