  1. Develop and maintain mainframe code to ensure it meets the current business needs and technological advancements of the company.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  3. Analyze and transform mainframe code to modernize and improve its efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  4. Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to mainframe systems.
  5. Stay updated with the latest mainframe development tools and technologies and provide recommendations for their implementation.
  6. Work closely with project managers to plan and prioritize tasks and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  7. Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to team members to maintain code quality and consistency.
  8. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns or issues.
  9. Document code changes and processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  10. Continuously improve mainframe development processes and procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  11. Mentor and train junior developers to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong Knowledge Of Mainframe Programming Languages: A Qualified Mainframe Code Explanation And Transformation Developer Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Mainframe Languages Such As Cobol, Pl/I, And Assembler, As Well As Experience With Jcl And Vsam.

  • Experience With Mainframe Development Tools: Along With Programming Languages, A Candidate Should Have Experience With Mainframe Development Tools Such As Ibm Debug Tool, Ibm Application Delivery Foundation For Z/Os, And Ibm File Manager.

  • Familiarity With Modernization Techniques: The Role Of A Mainframe Code Explanation And Transformation Developer Involves Modernizing Legacy Mainframe Code For Improved Efficiency And Functionality. A Candidate Should Have Knowledge Of Techniques Such As Refactoring And Code Restructuring To Achieve This Goal.

  • Proficiency In Troubleshooting And Debugging: As A Mainframe Developer, The Ability To Identify And Fix Code Errors Is Crucial. A Qualified Candidate Should Have Strong Troubleshooting And Debugging Skills, Along With The Ability To Analyze Large Amounts Of Code.

  • Knowledge Of Ibm Mainframe Systems: Ibm Mainframe Systems Are Highly Complex And Require Specialized Knowledge To Work With Them Effectively. A Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Ibm Mainframe Systems And Their Architecture, As Well As Experience With Z/Os And Other Related Technologies.
