  1. Manage and resolve member grievances and appeals in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Communicate with members, providers, and internal teams to understand and address concerns and issues.
  3. Ensure that all grievances and appeals are handled according to established policies and procedures.
  4. Maintain accurate documentation of all grievance and appeal cases.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to identify and address recurring issues and implement solutions.
  6. Stay up-to-date on healthcare policies and regulations to ensure compliance in all grievance and appeal processes.
  7. Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating empathy, active listening, and effective problem-solving skills.
  8. Remain calm and professional in high-stress situations, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence.
  9. Advocate for members and work towards a resolution that meets their needs and expectations.
  10. Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to management.
  11. Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  12. Meet performance goals and targets set by the company.
  13. Attend training sessions and meetings to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  14. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards of conduct.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Knowledge Of Healthcare Industry And Insurance Policies: A Successful Grievance & Appeals Representative At Humana Must Have A Solid Understanding Of The Healthcare Industry And The Various Policies And Regulations That Govern It. This Includes Knowledge Of Insurance Coverage, Claims Processing, And Appeal Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As A Representative For Humana, The Grievance & Appeals Representative Will Be Responsible For Interacting With Customers Who Have Filed Grievances Or Appeals. This Requires Exceptional Communication And Customer Service Skills To Effectively Listen, Empathize, And Resolve Issues.

  • Experience With Grievance And Appeals Processes: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have Prior Experience With Grievance And Appeals Processes, Preferably In A Healthcare Or Insurance Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Relevant Laws And Regulations, As Well As The Ability To Handle Sensitive And Confidential Information.

  • Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: A Grievance & Appeals Representative Must Be Able To Analyze Complex Information, Identify Issues, And Develop Effective Solutions. This Requires Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills, As Well As Attention To Detail And Accuracy.

  • Ability To Work Independently And In A Team: The Role Of A Grievance & Appeals Representative At Humana Requires The Ability To Work Independently As Well As Collaboratively With Colleagues. This Includes Managing A Caseload, Meeting Deadlines, And Following Established Procedures, As Well As Working With Other Team Members To Share Knowledge And Best Practices.
