Job Description

As a Float Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our members by assisting physicians and other clinical staff in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.   1. Greet and welcome patients in a warm and friendly manner, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the clinic.
  2. Assist physicians and other clinical staff in providing quality care to patients, including taking vital signs, collecting and documenting patient information, and assisting with procedures.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies are readily available and properly sanitized.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, answering any questions they may have and providing education on medical processes and procedures.
  5. Accurately and efficiently input patient information into electronic medical records.
  6. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  7. Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.
  8. Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating with other departments to ensure timely and appropriate care for patients.
  9. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and enhance the patient experience.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on medical procedures and protocols.
  11. Maintain current knowledge of insurance plans and assist patients with insurance-related inquiries.
  12. Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, and completing necessary paperwork.
  13. Flexibly float between various departments and locations as needed to support the team and meet the needs of patients.
  14. Demonstrate a high level of empathy and compassion towards patients and their families.
  15. Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant: The Ideal Candidate For This Job Should Have A Certification As A Medical Assistant From An Accredited Program. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Medical Assistant In A Professional And Efficient Manner.

  • Prior Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Medical Assistant Is Required For This Position. This Experience Should Include Working In A Primary Care Setting, Preferably With Experience In Float Or Travel Positions.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As A Float Medical Assistant, The Candidate Will Be Working In A Variety Of Healthcare Settings And With Different Providers. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Essential For Effectively Communicating With Patients, Colleagues, And Providers.

  • Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Records: Humana Utilizes Electronic Medical Records (Emr) For All Patient Documentation. Therefore, The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Working With Emr Systems And Should Be Comfortable Navigating And Documenting In An Electronic System.

  • Flexibility And Adaptability: The Float Medical Assistant Will Be Required To Work At Various Locations Within Central Phoenix, And May Also Be Asked To Travel To Other Areas As Needed. The Candidate Should Be Adaptable And Able To Quickly Adjust To Different Work Environments And Patient Populations. Additionally, The Candidate Should Be Able To Work Flexible Hours, Including Evenings And Weekends, As Needed.
