Job Description

As a System Infection Preventionist at Houston Methodist, you will be part of a team of professionals dedicated to protecting the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors. You will play a key role in ensuring that all infection prevention and control standards are met, while also providing expertise in the area of epidemiology and infection control. You will be responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of infection prevention and control activities.We are looking for an individual who is knowledgeable in clinical and laboratory-based infection control practices and standards. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated and organized professional with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. You should have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, or a related field, as well as a minimum of 5 years of experience in infection control in a health care setting. Experience in data analysis and quality improvement activities is also preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Implement and monitor infection prevention and control measures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
  2. Develop and maintain infection surveillance systems to identify and track trends in infections.
  3. Analyze surveillance data to identify areas of risk and recommend strategies for improvement.
  4. Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention and control practices.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure adherence to standards and policies.
  6. Monitor and assess infection control practices in clinical settings.
  7. Participate in quality improvement activities related to infection prevention and control.
  8. Analyze and interpret laboratory data related to infection control.
  9. Maintain accurate records and reporting of infection control activities.
  10. Remain up-to-date on new developments in the field of infection prevention and control.
