Job Description

As a Senior Risk Attorney at Houston Methodist, you will be an integral part of our legal department, responsible for managing the risk associated with the organization. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with exceptional legal expertise, an understanding of health care risk management, and a passion for providing quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience with the health care industry. In addition, the successful applicant will possess strong organizational and communications skills, an ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, with a strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal advice and guidance to Houston Methodist staff on risk management issues.
  2. Draft and review contracts to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Investigate potential liabilities and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing risk management policies and procedures.
  5. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with risk management regulations.
  6. Review and analyze legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
  7. Prepare and present reports to the appropriate internal/external stakeholders.
  8. Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  9. Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  10. Participate in internal and external meetings to discuss risk management strategies.
