Job Description

Houston Methodist is seeking a highly motivated Pre-Award Specialist to join our award-winning team. As part of the research team, the Pre-Award Specialist will provide essential services in the preparation and submission of grant and contract proposals. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate must be organized, adaptable, and have a positive attitude. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field, three to five years of grants and contracts administration experience, and familiarity with NIH and other federal agency guidelines. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and submit grant and contract proposals in accordance with NIH and other federal agency guidelines.
  2. Develop, maintain, and monitor pre-award budget information.
  3. Coordinate and track proposal and award documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all university, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  4. Research funding opportunities, advise faculty of new grant and contract opportunities, and provide guidance on proposal writing.
  5. Serve as a liaison between the research team and external agencies, providing timely assistance with inquiries.
  6. Maintain current knowledge of funding agency policies and regulations.
  7. Participate in the development and implementation of grant and contract policies and procedures.
  8. Monitor progress of awarded grants and contracts, and provide analysis and reporting of grant and contract activities.
  9. Provide guidance and training to faculty and staff on grants and contracts administration.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
