Job Description

We at Houston Methodist are looking for a motivated and organized Pharmacy Technician to join our team of healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others and a commitment to excellence, and will be responsible for providing quality service and support to our patients.The successful candidate will have a Pharmacy Technician Certificate as well as a minimum of two years of experience in a relevant role. They must also have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A working knowledge of medical terminology and computer systems is essential for this role as well.As a Pharmacy Technician at Houston Methodist, you will be part of an innovative team that is dedicated to providing our patients with the highest quality of care possible. Responsibilities:

  1. Assist pharmacists in providing medications and other health care products to patients in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Prepare and fill prescriptions, maintain prescription files, and enter information into the computer system.
  3. Verify patient information and dosage instructions for accuracy.
  4. Receive and process orders, and prepare and package medications for dispensing.
  5. Answer customer questions, and provide assistance and advice on the use of medications and medical products.
  6. Assist with inventory control and maintenance of the pharmacy.
  7. Maintain the accuracy of all records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  8. Monitor the expiration dates of drugs and ensure the safe disposal of expired and unused medications.
  9. Participate in continuing education activities to stay abreast of the latest developments in pharmacy practice.
  10. Comply with all safety policies and regulations.
