Job Description

As a Perfusionist at Houston Methodist, you will be at the forefront of providing life-saving care to patients in need of cardiac and other surgeries. You will play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality of care, as you will be operating state-of-the-art equipment and managing complex medical procedures. To be successful in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree in Perfusion Technology or an equivalent field, as well as obtain certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion or the American Board of Medical Specialties. In addition, you must demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the capability to work independently. Responsibilities:

  1. Operate state-of-the-art cardiac and other surgical equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  2. Monitor and adjust patient physiological parameters during and after surgery
  3. Work with medical teams to ensure the patient is receiving the highest quality of care
  4. Maintain patient records and follow established protocols
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or medical issues that may arise during surgery
  6. Provide input and feedback regarding the perfusion procedures and techniques used in the facility
  7. Participate in continuing education and professional development programs
  8. Adhere to all hospital and state regulations and guidelines
