Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician at Houston Methodist plays a vital role in providing quality healthcare for our patients. We are looking for an energetic and experienced individual who has a passion for helping others through the accurate and timely processing of laboratory samples. The successful candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, a valid certification from an accredited program, and a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting. In addition to excellent technical skills, the ideal Medical Laboratory Technician will also possess strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  2. Accurately document and maintain records of laboratory results.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
  4. Monitor laboratory supplies and order additional supplies as needed.
  5. Assist in the training and education of new laboratory staff members.
  6. Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.
  7. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding laboratory results and other laboratory related matters.
  8. Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures.
  9. Participate in continuing education programs to keep abreast of new laboratory techniques and procedures.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
