- Follow established laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure quality and accuracy of results.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Handle and process specimens in a safe and timely manner.
- Monitor and record test results accurately and report any abnormalities or discrepancies.
- Keep detailed records of all laboratory activities, including test results and maintenance logs.

- Collaborate with other laboratory staff members and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of results.

- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy and precision of test results.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as needed.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For A Medical Laboratory Assistant I Position At Houston Methodist.
Certification Or Training In Medical Laboratory Sciences: Candidates Should Have Completed A Certification Program Or Have Training In Medical Laboratory Sciences To Be Considered For The Position.
Previous Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Preferably, Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, With Knowledge Of Laboratory Equipment And Procedures.
Strong Communication And Organizational Skills: As A Medical Laboratory Assistant I, Candidates Will Be Expected To Communicate Effectively With Other Laboratory Staff And Healthcare Professionals, As Well As Maintain Accurate Records And Manage Laboratory Inventory.
Familiarity With Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures To Ensure The Safety Of Themselves And Others In The Laboratory Setting.
