  1. Lead and manage a team of nurses and support staff in the Labor & Delivery unit.
  2. Ensure the highest standard of care for mothers and babies.
  3. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve patient outcomes and safety.
  4. Evaluate and monitor the performance of staff and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  5. Create a positive and supportive work environment for staff.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients.
  7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients and their families.
  8. Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in Labor & Delivery nursing.
  9. Oversee the budget and resources for the unit.
  10. Participate in hiring and onboarding of new staff members.
  11. Conduct regular staff meetings and provide education and training opportunities.
  12. Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  13. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and encourage staff to contribute ideas for enhancing patient care.
  14. Serve as a role model for professionalism, excellent clinical skills, and compassionate care.
  15. Collaborate with other nurse leaders and managers to promote a unified and cohesive healthcare team.

Job Qualifications
  • Relevant Education And Experience: A Manager Of Nursing - Labor & Delivery At Houston Methodist Should Possess A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nursing And Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Labor And Delivery Nursing, With At Least 2 Years In A Managerial Role.

  • Clinical Knowledge And Expertise: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Labor And Delivery Processes, Procedures, And Best Practices. They Should Also Have Experience In Managing Complex Cases And Be Knowledgeable About The Latest Advancements In The Field.

  • Leadership And Communication Skills: A Manager Of Nursing - Labor & Delivery Should Have Excellent Leadership And Communication Skills To Effectively Lead A Team Of Nurses And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Medical Staff.

  • Organizational And Problem-Solving Abilities: This Role Requires The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Them Effectively. The Candidate Should Also Possess Strong Problem-Solving Skills To Address Any Issues That May Arise In The Labor And Delivery Unit.

  • Team Building And Management Skills: The Manager Of Nursing - Labor & Delivery Should Have Experience In Building And Managing A Cohesive Team. They Should Be Able To Foster A Positive And Supportive Work Environment, Promote Team Collaboration, And Effectively Manage Conflicts.
