- Verify insurance coverage for patients by reviewing insurance policies and procedures
- Communicate with insurance companies and patients to obtain necessary information for claims processing
- Accurately enter and update patient insurance information in electronic medical records system
- Utilize knowledge of insurance plans, benefits, and coverage to determine patient eligibility and coverage for services
- Collaborate with billing and coding team to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues with insurance coverage or claims
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, insurance companies, and internal staff regarding insurance inquiries and issues
- Stay updated on changes and updates in insurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy in claims processing
- Participate in team meetings and trainings to continuously improve processes and procedures related to insurance verification.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For An Insurance Verifier At Houston Methodist Is A High School Diploma Or Ged. This Ensures That Applicants Have A Basic Understanding Of Math, Communication, And Computer Skills.
Experience In Healthcare Or Insurance Industry: Candidates With Prior Experience In Healthcare Or Insurance Industry Will Have A Better Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Insurance Procedures And Regulations, And Electronic Medical Records.
Knowledge Of Insurance Verification Processes: A Strong Understanding Of Insurance Verification Processes, Including Eligibility Verification, Pre-Certification, And Authorization, Is Essential For This Role.
