- Conduct regular audits of coding practices to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
- Analyze coding data and reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with coding and billing teams to address coding discrepancies and provide education on proper coding techniques.
- Stay up-to-date on coding guidelines and regulations to ensure the organization remains in compliance.
- Develop and maintain coding quality metrics to track performance and identify trends.
- Provide guidance and support to coding staff and other healthcare professionals on coding-related inquiries.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management and participate in developing action plans for improvement.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate staff on coding best practices and regulatory changes.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in handling sensitive patient and coding information.
- Serve as a resource for coding-related questions and issues, providing prompt and accurate responses.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits and reviews.
- Participate in departmental and organizational meetings to discuss coding quality initiatives and share best practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Extensive Knowledge Of Coding Guidelines And Regulations: A Coding Quality Auditor At Houston Methodist Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Latest Coding Guidelines And Regulations, Including Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Codes.
Experience In Medical Coding: Candidates For This Role Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Medical Coding, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Certification As A Coding Quality Auditor: A Professional Certification Such As Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Or Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Is Required For This Position.
Strong Analytical Skills: The Ability To Analyze And Interpret Complex Medical Records And Coding Data Is Crucial For Ensuring Accuracy And Quality In Coding Audits.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Coding Quality Auditor, You Will Be Working Closely With Physicians, Coders, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Effectively Communicating Audit Findings And Providing Education And Training On Coding Best Practices.
