Job Description

Houston Methodist is seeking an experienced professional to join our innovative team as a Coding Quality Auditor. The successful individual will have a passion for upholding data accuracy and integrity and demonstrate a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. This position requires an expert understanding of medical coding and auditing processes and the ability to identify trends, develop solutions and provide guidance to our coding staff.The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of four years of recent coding experience, a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification, and a comprehensive knowledge of coding and reimbursement principles. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to success in this role. The Coding Quality Auditor will need to be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, as well as with a variety of staff and physicians. Responsibilities:

  1. Review medical records and coding to ensure accuracy and integrity of data
  2. Identify trends and develop solutions to coding issues
  3. Provide guidance to coding staff
  4. Maintain and update knowledge of coding and reimbursement principles
  5. Communicate effectively with physicians, coding staff, and other staff
  6. Monitor and track coding accuracy and performance
  7. Adhere to coding, documentation, and reimbursement standards
  8. Maintain current CCS or CPC certification
  9. Work independently in a fast-paced environment
  10. Evaluate coding quality and identify areas for improvement
