
Charge Nurse (RN) Labor & Delivery Nights
Houston Methodist is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Charge Nurse (RN) for our Labor & Delivery unit to join our team on the night shift. - Lead and manage a team of nurses and support staff on the night shift in the Labor & Delivery unit.
- Provide exceptional care to laboring and postpartum patients, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Act as a role model for the nursing staff, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and dedication to patient care.
- Utilize strong critical thinking skills to assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, other healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of nursing staff, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support for complex patient cases.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in the development and implementation of best practices for patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote positive outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Stay current with advancements and best practices in labor and delivery nursing, and share knowledge with the team.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to address any concerns or issues that arise.
- Mentor and train new nurses and support staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Valid Rn License In The State Of Texas: A Charge Nurse For Labor & Delivery Nights At Houston Methodist Must Hold A Current And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of Texas, Demonstrating Their Ability To Practice Nursing In Accordance With State Regulations.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Labor & Delivery: As A Leader In The Department, A Charge Nurse Must Have A Strong Foundation In Labor & Delivery Nursing, With At Least 3 Years Of Experience In The Specialty.
Bls And Acls Certifications: Being A Charge Nurse Requires The Ability To Handle Emergency Situations, Making It Essential To Hold Current Bls And Acls Certifications To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Patients.
Previous Charge Nurse Or Leadership Experience: Candidates For This Position Should Have Previous Experience In A Charge Nurse Or Leadership Role, Demonstrating Their Ability To Manage A Team And Effectively Coordinate Patient Care.
Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn): While Not Always Required, A Bsn Is Highly Preferred For This Role As It Demonstrates A Commitment To Ongoing Education And A Higher Level Of Knowledge And Expertise In The Nursing Field.
