We are currently seeking a Chaplain Intern PRN/Days to join our team and assist our chaplains in providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff.   1. Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff in alignment with Houston Methodist's mission and values.
  2. Collaborate with and support chaplains in their daily duties, including but not limited to conducting spiritual assessments, leading worship services, and providing crisis intervention.
  3. Maintain a compassionate and empathetic presence while interacting with patients, families, and staff, respecting their beliefs and cultural practices.
  4. Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the spiritual needs of patients and families are addressed in their care plans.
  5. Assist with coordinating and conducting religious services and rituals, such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals, for patients and their families.
  6. Document interactions with patients and families in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
  7. Continuously educate oneself on various religious and cultural practices to better serve the diverse patient population.
  8. Participate in regular training and supervision sessions with the chaplaincy team to enhance skills and knowledge in spiritual care.
  9. Proactively identify and report any spiritual and emotional needs that may require further support or intervention.
  10. Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment by fostering teamwork, open communication, and professional conduct.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as ethical and legal standards, in the delivery of spiritual care services.
  12. Act as a role model for the Houston Methodist values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence in all interactions.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Master's Degree In Divinity, Theology, Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Ordination Or Endorsement From A Recognized Religious Organization.

  • At Least One Year Of Experience In Providing Spiritual Care In A Healthcare Or Institutional Setting.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations.

  • Availability To Work Flexible Hours, Including Weekends And Holidays, To Meet The Needs Of Patients And Their Families.
