- Provide spiritual care and support to patients, their families, and hospital staff.
- Complete assigned patient visits and document visit notes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in organizing and conducting religious services, including Mass, prayer services, and other spiritual rituals.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address the spiritual needs of patients and facilitate referrals to other resources as needed.
- Engage in active listening and compassionate communication with patients to understand their spiritual and emotional needs.
- Offer prayer, spiritual guidance, and emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times.
- Participate in rounds and team meetings to discuss patient care and provide spiritual insight and support.
- Attend educational and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in spiritual care.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients, families, and staff.
- Work closely with experienced chaplains to receive guidance, mentorship, and feedback.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of spiritual care programs and initiatives.
- Support and participate in hospital events, such as memorial services and celebrations of life.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of patient interactions and services provided.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols.
- Continuously strive to provide exceptional spiritual care and uphold the mission and values of Houston Methodist.
Completion Of At Least Two Years Of Graduate Studies In Theology Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.
Demonstrated Ability To Provide Spiritual And Emotional Support To Patients, Families, And Staff In A Hospital Setting.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds.
Familiarity With Various Religious And Spiritual Traditions, As Well As Cultural Sensitivity And Respect For Individual Beliefs.
Willingness To Work Flexible Hours, Including Evenings, Weekends, And Holidays, And Participate In On-Call Rotation As Needed.
