We are currently seeking a Chaplain Intern to join our team and provide spiritual care to our patients, families, and staff.As a Chaplain Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a diverse healthcare setting while working alongside our experienced chaplains.   1. Provide spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff members at Houston Methodist.
  2. Work closely with experienced chaplains to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.
  3. Uphold the values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence in all interactions.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for patients.
  5. Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when providing spiritual care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Assist with religious and spiritual rituals and ceremonies as needed.
  7. Document patient interactions and maintain accurate records.
  8. Attend and participate in meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
  9. Continuously strive to enhance spiritual care services and contribute to a supportive and compassionate work environment.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  11. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and staff.
  12. Serve as a role model for our values and mission to provide exceptional care to our community.

Job Qualifications
  • Completed Or Enrolled In An Accredited Theological Education Program: The Ideal Candidate For A Chaplain Intern Position At Houston Methodist Should Have A Strong Foundation In Theological Studies. This Can Be Demonstrated Through Completion Or Enrollment In An Accredited Program, Such As A Master's Degree In Divinity Or Theology.

  • Demonstrated Commitment To Spiritual Care: Chaplain Interns At Houston Methodist Are Expected To Provide Spiritual Support And Guidance To Patients, Families, And Staff. Therefore, Candidates Should Have A Strong Passion For And Commitment To Spiritual Care, As Evidenced Through Previous Experiences Or Involvement In Religious Organizations.

  • Good Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Chaplain Intern, Effective Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Relationships With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Teams. Candidates Should Be Able To Communicate Empathetically And Respectfully With Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds And Beliefs.

  • Ability To Work In A Multi-Faith Environment: Houston Methodist Serves A Diverse Patient Population, And As Such, The Chaplain Intern Should Be Comfortable Working In A Multi-Faith Environment. Candidates Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Various Religious Beliefs And Practices And Be Able To Provide Support And Guidance To Individuals Of Different Faiths.

  • Strong Emotional And Spiritual Maturity: Working As A Chaplain Intern Can Be Emotionally And Spiritually Demanding, As It Involves Providing Support To Individuals Facing Difficult Life Situations.
