  1. Provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff members at Houston Methodist.
  2. Conduct regular visits to patients and their families to offer prayer, comfort, and spiritual guidance.
  3. Offer support and guidance to staff members who may be experiencing emotional or spiritual distress.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to patients.
  5. Facilitate spiritual and religious rituals and practices for patients and families as needed.
  6. Serve as a liaison between patients and their respective religious communities.
  7. Attend to urgent spiritual needs and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  8. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all spiritual care interactions.
  9. Participate in staff education and training on cultural and religious diversity.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current healthcare practices and religious/spiritual resources.
  11. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Houston Methodist in all interactions.
  12. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards of conduct.
  13. Collaborate with other chaplains and spiritual care providers to ensure comprehensive and effective care.
  14. Provide spiritual support to patients and families during end-of-life care.
  15. Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Divinity Or Theology From An Accredited Institution.

  • Ordination Or Endorsement From An Appropriate Religious Organization.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Ministry Or Chaplaincy, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Provide Spiritual And Emotional Support To Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds.

  • Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Healthcare Staff And Patients.
