Job Description

We are looking for a Certified Tumor Registrar with outstanding attention to detail and accuracy to join the team at Houston Methodist. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in cancer research and patient care.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining medical records of patients with cancer, and for ensuring that these records are complete and accurate. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.The required qualifications for this role include: a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar, a current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification, knowledge of cancer registry principles and conventions, and computer proficiency.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain up-to-date medical records for patients with cancer, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  2. Monitor and review patient data in accordance with applicable cancer registry principles and conventions.
  3. Communicate effectively with medical staff, patients, and other stakeholders.
  4. Ensure that all data is collected, stored, and reported in a timely manner.
  5. Monitor and update patient data in the cancer registry system.
  6. Prepare and submit cancer registry reports in a timely manner.
  7. Remain current on applicable cancer registry principles and conventions.
  8. Adhere to Houston Methodist's policies and procedures.
  9. Provide support to other members of the cancer registry team.
  10. Participate in educational activities related to cancer registry.
